Communist Party of India expresses its shock and anger over a ghastly incident of gang-rape and thrashing of army personnel in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore the previous night. It was reported that two army officers and their female-friends were attacked by a group of men who later gang-raped one of the females on gun-point. This incident has again exposed the reality of women-security in BJP ruled states and the hollowness of slogans like ‘Beti Bachao’.
This incident shows the pathetic situation of law-and-order in BJP ruled states. It is extremely concerning that under BJP rule, criminals have become so emboldened that even army personnel could not defend themselves. That the incident took place near a historic and tourist spot further shows the deteriorating security conditions of Madhya Pradesh under a long BJP rule.
The CPI condemns this incident outraging the modesty of a women and beating of army personnel by goons and anti-social elements in the strongest terms. RSS-BJP’s patriarchal and anti-women attitude is resulting in increased crimes against women. In many instances, BJP leaders have sided with such violators further putting women security at risk. The CPI demands that the criminals involved in the Indore incident be nabbed and justice takes place thoroughly.
