The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India congratulates Com. Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the leader of the JVP and the National People’s Power (NPP), on his outstanding victory in the Sri Lankan presidential election. This first-time victory for the Left in Sri Lanka will undoubtedly have a positive impact on South Asia and also on the political course of the world.
CPI hopes that under his leadership, Sri Lanka will not only overcome the current economic situation but also find a political solution to the rights of minorities in Sri Lanka, moving forward towards comprehensive socio-political development.
